Philosophy of the Fund

The CABEI Central American Bond Fund, formerly the CABEI Central American Portfolio, (the Fund) keeps its assets at work in the region, helping sovereign and corporate entities by providing financial support of their debt issues. It is the goal of the Fund to invest the majority of its assets in countries that are members of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration or CABEI (i.e. Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Panama). Investment may also be made in other member countries of CABEI (Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Belize, Spain, and the Republic of China). Additionally, the Fund is intended to provide a vehicle by which the institutional investor participates in the economic and financial growth in Central America. The Fund is registered with the government regulator in Panama. The Fund has a prime rating of AA in the markets of Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama. 

The Company

CABEI Central American Fund plc (the Company) is an open ended umbrella investment company with variable capital incorporated on 12 March 1999 under the Companies Act 2014. The Company is domiciled in the Republic of Ireland and is authorized by the Central Bank of Ireland pursuant to the European Communities (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities - UCITS) Regulations, 2011 (S.I. No. 352 of 2011) as amended, supplemented or consolidated from time to time. The company number is 303448.

The CABEI Central American Bond Fund represents the first portfolio/fund of the Company. 

Description of Fund

The CABEI Central American Bond Fund (the Fund) is administered by Northern Trust International Fund Administration Services (Ireland) Limited. DWS Investment GmbH (DWS) serves as the Fund’s Investment Manager. DWS originated as a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank AG and is now a publicly traded company, where Deutsche Bank AG is the majority shareholder.

The Fund's objective is to generate a high real rate of return for investors by investing primarily in debt securities of issuers located in Central America.  The Fund seeks to achieve this objective by investing primarily in a diversified portfolio of fixed and floating rate securities issued by sovereign issuers, their agents and instrumentalities, corporate issuers, supranational issuers, quasi-governmental issuers, and any other issuer deemed fit for investment by the Investment Manager.  With the exception of permitted investments in unlisted securities or in units of open-ended collective schemes, investment will be restricted to those stock exchanges and markets (Regulated Markets) listed in the Prospectus of the Fund.

The Funds are not available to US Persons (as such term is defined in the Fund Prospectus). Restrictions also apply to residents of the United Kingdom, Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan, further details of which are contained in the Fund Prospectus.

The Fund Prospectus also contains restrictions on the on the marketing, offer, sale, and distribution of the Shares to investors in the United Kingdom, Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.
